The sartorialist recently made a comment about girls with rolled sleeves-and while we've seen this since the Row video debuted we still absolutely love this look. photos: www.karlascloset.blogspot.com, Aritzia fashion show, sartorialist.com
photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin; this shoot is amazing. When we first saw these ads in print we were so inspired! Were loving what Gucci did this season. photos: thefashionspot
We saw fur in last years fall shows, but there has been an abundance of it for the coming fall. Since many aren't thrilled with the idea of fur, both Zara and H&M have come out with faux fuzzy creations.
Now, we're usually quite opposed to all must-have lists or any other attempts of regulating fashion (fashion-do's/don'ts, worst dressed...) BUT, we were browsing refinery 29's must-have list for the upcoming fall season and we have to say KUDOS! They just about summed it up:
So excited we are for new fall wardrobes that we basically forgot that it was still warm out. After doing some picture browsing we came across this chick, providing some much needed warm weather inspiration.
It seems as though our fall inspiration has become trapped in a very dark corner: consisting solely of all things black, menswear inspired or punk in nature. So we turned to the runways of Chloé, Burberry Prorsum and BCBG to lighten our minds and inspire our wardrobes! Of course, we still love the exposed zippers, studs, blazers and dramatic skirts, but a floral dress with tights or tiered skirt with a belted waist never hurt anyone. photos: style.com
The maxi skirt/dress will be making its way from our summer wardrobes into our fall-in none other then our favorite colour black. We found a great black maxi at H&M for 70% off and have already started wearing it, taking cues from Mr. Wang and pairing it with a loose white tank to make it more weather appropriate.
It's quite exciting to see this spread in the september issue of teen vogue. We've found that over the last few monthes the magazine hasn't been as inspiring as it used to be. This editorial is a great reminder and example of why we LOVE teen vogue - especially that last image, ahhhhhh.
While she's not new to the modeling scene, Daul Kim's personal style, editoral spreads, and runway attire, constantly keep her on our radar. With her regular appearances on the model street style forum on TFS, as well as her frequently updated personal blog iliketoforkmyself.blogspot.com, she proves herself to be a modern day style icon...and quite funny.
Fall 08 has resurrected everything from 90's grunge to old Hollywood glamour, and while were loving anything ripped and torn to shreds, it seems the glamour route is the more generally accepted look. Keep knee length skirts fitted to retain youth in this look and brighten up your lips to help to liven everything up.
While many have to keep things looking clean and conservative, some have the freedom dressing as they please while still looking appropriate. Some of our favorite fall looks make this simple: keep it skinny on the bottom, and have fun on top.
As a recent college graduate, my days of part-time jobs and travels have come to an end. Fortunately I work for a fashion forward company that allows and encourages their employees to dress creatively. Many of my friends however, have gone the corporate route leaving them to question if conservative dress codes leave any room for fashion and personal style. The answer of course is YES, and the fall runways have given us a ton of inspiration; so enjoy and get inspired by this and the coming posts.
Go for super skinny trousers (no leggings in an office setting) and tailor the look with a great blouse, jacket, or blazer. Get creative and have fun with shoes...but no kitten heels please-opt for great flats if you can't handle a heel.
We are always so amazed and inspired by the art, music and fashion movements of the 1960's and 70's. Icons like Edie, Warhol, Vreeland, Lennon and Penelope Tree changed their respective industries for the decades to come. Model Tree's stick-straight hair and massive eyes and lashes are definitely what make her face so memorable. We're largely drawn to her spirit (not to mention those cheeks!)which Avedon's photographs capture so beautifully (above).
It's been a while, but Michelle and Steph are back together again. While we're still busy with work, you will now be seeing a more consistently updated site. This Sunday we had a great photoshoot that we're looking forward to sharing with everyone once we get the pictures and permission to show them. We also have tons of fall inspiration to share, as well as how to milk the rest of your summer wardrobe.
For now we leave you with these treasures. Louboutin for Rodarte=a match made in heaven.
