Loving Grey Skinny Jeans

Sometimes we feel like we get into a wardrobe lull; our blue jeans are just not inspiring and our dresses seem too formal.  So right now, one of our wardrobe favorites is a simple pair of grey jeans.  We're loving the monochrome grey attire most of these girls are working, but a floral cardigan or a structured blazer will work just as well-especially for the season.

The Other Traina

So a while back we gave you a glimpse of Vanessa Traina's amazing minimalist aesthetic, but we definitely owe a glimpse to her sister Victoria, whose style is definitely not lagging behind. Victoria knows how to keep black chic and modern; her avant-garde bangs definitely give her some edge. This girl knows how to wear trends, like studs and fringe, but make the looks so far ahead of the rest of us. We should all take cues.

studded

We are currently obsessed with studs. Wear them anywhere, in any colour, and in any amount.

a touch of leopard

Leopard has always been a classic-a classic that is very difficult to get right. Without being to reminiscent of Peggy Bundy, these ladies pull of the print as if they were wearing plain black.  Whether you're confident enough to wear a full on gown or just as an accessory, be sure you keep the rest of your attire very simple.

To the Maxi

So in love with maxi dresses we are; such a nice change from the skin tight minis, and unfortunate butt baring Abercrombie-esque jean shorts. While this H&M number seems a little played out, as it has been featured on just about every fashion blog, we still can't get enough of its tribal girly feel.

Maxi Musings

Here is a nice contrast to the typical mini skirt get up we're used to seeing as soon as warm weather hits.  The maxi dress was seen on just about every runway for S/S 08, and now on the bodies of just about every celebrity.  The ease of taking the dress from day to night, and not to mention the fact that they are much more forgiving then something that merely covers the bum, makes the maxi dress one of our top summer picks.

A Look At: Taylor Tomasi

As accessories director at teen vogue, Tomasi definitely knows how to put it together. Her outfits are kept interesting from head to toe, while consistantly balancing those hard/soft, masculine/feminine, light/dark binaries within each look. Her soft skin tone and great hair colour definitely play a role in creating that balance, offsetting the large amount of black she often drapes herself in. We're especially eyeing those black studded Phi boots she rocks...

still got the blues

Just to show you some inspiration on how to rock your old blue jeans - in between all the florals/trousers/gothic outfits/hippie chic...
Something we love with ultra skinny denim is to layer on top, creating lots of volume, and then throw on a good ankle boot or sandal.

Loving Our New Boyfriend Trousers

In case you missed some previous posts, we have been relaying our fixation on boyfriend trousers for quite some time.  Well, we finally got ourselves a few pairs (courtesy of Value Village and not our boyfriends); here they are in all their glory, looking as perfect as we could have hoped for.

Summer Look

Inspired by the beautiful weather we had today, Liz is put together in a simple tube skirt worn as a dress, a light-weight scarf, and the ever relevant gladiators.  Finally time to break out our summer wardrobes.

Loving Team French Vogue

Melanie Huynh, assistant stylist at French Vogue, definitely has a signature look we can't get enough of (not to mention a JOB we highly covet). Her staples, an awsome motorcycle jacket and navy Ralph Lauren school-boy blazer, work well to structure feminine pieces. She also knows exactly how to rock the wide-legs - take cues.

In Honor of Carrie Bradshaw

With just a little over a month until the Sex and the City movie premieres, we thought it appropriate to showcase style icon Sarah Jessica Parker.  On screen and off, the girl always looks her best.  SJP manages to look classic on the red carpet, and maintains a pretty meets tough image on a day to day basis.  Can't wait for her drool worthy wardrobe this May.

Going Gothic for Spring

Ann Demeulmeester's signature slouchy-masculine look gets us everytime. She is the queen of gothic layering and we love seeing her collection every season. This spring '08 show was amazing because it perfectly mixes menswear inspired pieces with fringe, flap and summer sandals. Its just too good.

Easy Dressing

Here's something super easy, for those days when you're in a massive rush or its just too damn early in the morning to process making an outfit. Throw on a long tank, tights, blazer and wedges - comfortable too.

Thrift Tip: Boys Blazers

Roll up your sleeves, literally. Blazers are a great way to structure any outfit. We like them with a more masculine cut and slightly oversized, but make sure they're not abnormally large in the arm and shoulder areas. We've found that boys sections or even the smaller sized mens sections of second hand/thrift shops always have great ones.

The Fringe Binge

Fringe. LOVE fringe. Yet it is seemingly difficult to find!

As you can see, fringe can be quite exaggerated (as at Gareth Pugh) or worn very subtly (the hats at Marni), whatever feels most comfortable is what will look best off the runway. But if we can get our hands on something similar to the Roberto Cavalli dress seen in the fourth image, then you can be sure that it will be well worn throughout the summer months.

The Boyfriend Trouser

We've seen this spring trend on the runways of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Helmut Lang and Alexander Wang (above). We love the boyfriend trouser because its super easy to wear. Remember to keep it baggier around the upper leg area. Pleats work too, in small doses. Wear them cropped (rolling the bottoms works) or long, with a slight taper at the bottom. Pair them with your favourite heel or jazz shoe.We found some good cuts at h&m or even mens suit pants from thrift stores (don't forget to WASH THEM). We'll show you a styledby soon.

Simply Put- We Like How They Look

While each and everyone one of these lovely ladies are dressed differently from one another, each one has managed to make an impact on our wardrobing ideas. Whether its cropped leather jackets, a simple dress, or jodhpur's, these girls have taken basic apparel items and worked them to the max; and while some outfits are better suited for colder weather, it never hurts to take a look and try to develop spring versions.

Top It Off

Just to incorporate a hat related outfit-here is Liz in a simple but relevant maxi dress, and to make it a bit more interesting we've added a fedora, and some bangles. While it's not warm enough yet to debut this sleeveless look, adding a simple blazer or cropped leather jacket will make all the difference.

For Bad Hair Days/April Showers: Fedoras and Such

Gone are the days when we could cover up some unwashed hair in our Prada inspired turbans. With warm weather looming, we turned to the Spring 08 runway shows, and a few of our favourite girls, for some hat inspiration. Tip: check Men's Sections for great styles.

be my valentine (we know, its cheesy)

So here's a peek of Valentine's bed-head-chic style. Tip: throw out all hair brushes and combs. We especially love the baggy boyfriend trousers she's wearing in the centre image - definitely a must have for spring.

LOVE this

We came across this photo on one of our favourite Paris street style blogs, Garance Doré, and we just had to post it. Her name is Valentine Fillol-Cordier. We'll do a "The Look Of:" on her soon because her style is always completely inspiring, but for now we had to share this look. Its TOO good.

Oh it's Faux

While it may not be the fuzzy vest we had in mind, we still love this cropped faux fur coat which is perfect to throw on for a night on the town. We would wear it every day if it weren't for the fear of an animal activist thinking its real then throwing paint at us. Regardless, the fur is perfect for an all black attire such as this, or even over a loose cashmere sweater and jeans.
